Business Naming Domains

Branding a business with a marketable name is obviously vital to long-term success and growth. At DoughDomains.com we have some awesome domain names that could be used to brand a future start-up, or re-brand a current business that's looking for growth and even franchise potential. We have included some recently developed logos as well!

Naming opportunity domain #1: Wipeys.com

For the first few months of parenthood, my wife and I could not believe how many baby wipes we went through. Often referred to simply as "Wipes", they became a mainstay on our grocery list until our daughter graduated out of diapers.

Wipeys.com has enormous potential to become a full-scale product line featuring:

  • baby wipes
  • wet-naps / moist towelettes
  • cosmetic wipes
  • antibacterial wipes
  • multi-surface wipes
  • automotive wipes

Naming opportunity domain #2: GoChip.com

Chip technology isn't disappearing anytime soon and there's tremendous opportunity for a tech product to be branded by the brandable 6-letter domain name: GoChip.com

Is this a chip embedded in a bank card or credit card?  Is it some sort of biometric sensor that can be incorporated into the wearables market that's becoming mainstream?

Earlier this month, I wrote a post highlighting the numerous domain name sales featuring the keyword of "Go". I look forward to finding a home for this gem and hope it becomes the name of a future-tech product with global presence.

Naming opportunity domain #3: VeinTech.com

Vein technology is emerging across the world. Recently bank machines in Poland were introduced that used vein recognition within the users finger as a form of security. Believe it or not, vein recognition is more secure than fingerprint recognition.

Sensors are also being developed that scan the entire vein pattern located within the palm of the hand. This emerging technology and the companies that produce it need a brandable web presence to corner the market.

That's where VeinTech.com comes in!

"Media".com domain name sales analysis.

Not too long ago I received an eMail with an offer for $50 to buy HologramMedia.com from my portfolio. Basically that would have roughly covered the registration fees since acquiring this name in 2010. Needless to say my answer to the $50 offer was "No Thanks".

The branding power of "Go"

There is no 2-letter word in the English language that's as powerful and as marketable these days as the word "Go". Numerous businesses and companies have branded or re-branded successfully by incorporating the word "Go" into their name. In my home town, Go Auto is the massive parent company to numerous car dealerships under their portfolio. Oh yeah and there is also a massive player in the registry market where all of our name are currently registered....

How valuable is the word "Go" when it comes to an on-line presence? Let's take a look at domain name sales in excess of $5,000 USD since 2008 that incorporate this sweet little 2-letter business branding treasure.

SOURCE: dnpric.es  Names sold in the past 24 months are in red.

GoFish.com     $50,000   Sold February, 2010

GoPost.com     $25,000   Sold September, 2011
GoLegal.com   $23,000   Sold September, 2013
GoDirect.com   $15,100  Sold July, 2009
GoPay.com      $15,000   Sold January, 2008

GoSilver.com   $11,000   Sold September, 2011
GoBike.com     $9,975   Sold January, 2013
GoKite.com      $9,900   Sold January, 2012
GoBrand.com   $9,700   Sold February, 2008
GoRacing.com  $9,500   Sold August, 2014
GoPoker.com    $7,800   Sold January, 2013
GoComm.com   $7,638   Sold August 2013
GoBand.com     $6,500   Sold July, 2013
GoVote.com     $6,361   Sold November, 2008
GoPhone.com   $6,000   Sold November, 2011
GoPut.com       $6,000    Sold April, 2011
GoRacing.com  $5,911  Sold June, 2012
GoCayman.com $5,801  Sold April, 2008
GoMusic.com    $5,599   Sold June, 2012
GoCoin.com      $5,525   Sold July, 2013
GoHotels.com   $5,500   Sold September, 2010

GoZip.com        $5,400   Sold April, 2010
GoCase.com      $5,000   Sold April, 2014
GoYou.com       $5,000   Sold October, 2009

The above sample set includes names that are all in the .com extension (Gold standard) and between 5 and 8 total characters long. If a search included additional extensions and 8+ characters there would be even more examples of "Go" power. Keep in mind also that these are published sales and that there could be numerous un-reported, un-published and private transactions of domain names starting with "Go".

Why do I find this so interesting? Well, with a domain portfolio that includes a few names that start with "Go", it's nice to see that a market has been established. This makes it much easier to determine a potential purchase price and provide information to a prospective buyer who may be unfamiliar with market values with respect to domain names.

For example, I registered GoChip.com in 2008. Will I entertain an $500 offer to sell this name. Probably not. Chip technology isn't disappearing anytime soon and this name would be perfect for a tech company to brand/name a product.

In conclusion,

Don't let your brandable "Go" domain names go without careful consideration of its potential to brand, or re-brand an existing business or become a great name for a start-up!

Update on Three Dough Domains purchased in 2013

Here is an update on three Dough Domains names that found new homes to end-users during 2013.

It was very exciting to help a few companies brand, re-brand and market using one of our domains.

Former Dough Domain #1:

GreenLid.com is now being used instead of the former: SFSmoothieCompany.com. It was very clear during the discussions regarding this domain name that the interested party understood the value of having a domain name that could allow her business to potentially expand beyond the San Francisco market. I'm sure that the original $10 investment on the first website address made financial sense during the start-up phase, however, the long-term payoff of acquiring and re-branding with GreenLid.com was a great business decision.

I look forward to my next visit to San Francisco where I can try out a green smoothie and see just how much more 'green' they are now making with a former Dough Domain.

Former Dough Domain #2:

PeeBox.com - This was one of the 6-letter Dough Domains that was featured in an earlier blog post. It was advertised as "a place where cats hang out". We were approached by a company in Beverly Hills who will soon market an indoor dog potty using the domain name PeeBox.com. It looks like they are still in the process of bringing it to the market place, but hopefully it will take off and we can add this company to our list of clients who have acquired one of our Dough Domains to market and brand a product. With this business venture still in its infancy, the buyers of PeeBox chose to lease the domain name from us and pay off the purchase price over a 3 year term. This is a great example of how we like to work with our clients so that they can develop a domain name right away without having to commit substantial start-up capital to the importance a short, memorable domain. Over time, the remaining balance will hopefully be a "drop in the bucket" after there has been a few years of revenue established.

Former Dough Domain #3:

TapBet.com - Another one of 6-letter gems! Touch screen technology and gambling joined forces as an end-user acquired this Dough Domain to develop a website that provides super fast betting.

It's very rewarding seeing domain names being developed rather than parked and we look forward to future sales and development of our names in 2014 and beyond.

Remember, at DoughDomains.com our domain names are, "all .com all the time."

Until next time,

RJ

DoughDomains.com

"Statement Domains"

Well hello,

It's been a month or so since contributing to this blog, so here is a brief entry on a few Dough Domains that I would classify as "Statement Domains".  I guess this post could also be titled "Multi-word Domains" as well...

As I approach the 1,100 domain mark, only a handful of my domains (3 in fact) exceed two words. I've seen a few sales on the weekly charts that are similar in their multi-word nature so perhaps these names will one day find a new home, or be developed if I ever find the time to put my golf clubs down.

If one of these Dough Domains is of interest, please contact Sales@DoughDomains.com for outright purchasing, leasing arrangements or joint-ventures.

GoodToYourself.com - This is the most "feel-good" domain name in my portfolio. Whether it be improving ones mental or physical states (or both), this domain name screams unicorns and rainbows when it is said aloud.

FurIsBad.com - After some serious sleuthing I managed to determine the origin of the last interested party that inquired about acquiring this domain name. And yes, they did have ties to a well known organization that rhymes with Cheetah. When I registered FurIsBad.com back in 2008, it had nothing to do with any sort of belief that Fur Is Bad, it was quite simply because it was available and I thought it sounded catchy.

MyHoleInOne.com - Now here is a domain name that may be developed personally when I finally break the seal and make an ace of my own. Believe it or not, I made a 2 on a par-5 when I was 21, but I have yet to make the magical "one-timer" while on the links. I have played in four different groups in which someone has done so and witnessed the excitement it creates. MyHoleInOne.com could ultimately end up being an online database where a lucky golfer could document their special moment and download pictures/videos of the occasion. With links to merchandise and trophies there is some significant revenue potential with this "My ..." domain name.

Anyhow, to view the remaining names in my portfolio, please visit DoughDomains.com

Keep in mind that the portfolio is "all .com all the time" and we have another other mini-site found at GreenSights.com featuring "eco" and "green" themed .com's.

Until next time,

RJ

Holographic Domain Names

A while back I went on a rampage of registering domain names incorporating the emerging technology of holography. Needless to say, I have been a huge fan of science fiction for along time. I was 9 years old when Star Trek TNG came out and I would have to say that idea of a 'holodeck' was very intriguing to me at the time (it still is). Thus, when the '3D' explosion arrived a few years back, I discovered that virtually all of the marketable domain names involving 3D were acquired by entrepreneurs and businesses long before I tried to register them.

I did on the other hand have some success with some 'holo' names that may prove one day to be a wise investment. It seems that more and more featured articles on websites like Wired.com and TrendHunter.com feature this emerging technology that will hopefully bridge the gap between my favorite television show of all-time and modern-day reality.

If any of these names are of interest, please contact sales@DoughDomains.com for more information regarding purchasing, joint-ventures, or leasing.

Dough Domains - 'Holo'.com portfolio includes:

HoloAdvertise.com - Scrolling text and images that could be projected on any surface to advertise a product or service.

HoloConference.com - I could see myself one day negotiating a domain name transaction while an image of the prospective buyer is displayed across from me. Very Jedi counsel like!

HoloEmitter.com - Just call Chief O'Brien or Commander LaForge when yours breaks down...

HoloFriends.com - I've got lots of real ones already, but some people may need a few holographic friends one day.

HologramMedia.com - All encompassing category killer for all things hologram.

HologramTablet.com - Two emerging technologies join forces!

HolographicEmitter.com - Paging the good Dr. Zimmerman...

HoloImager.com - This could be the category killer reference when the competition flourishes.

HoloImages.com  - This would be a very light weight photo album if all it has were holo images.

HoloLove.com - I prefer the real thing, however, this market could be massive for long-distance lovers.

HoloMe.com - Send in your picture to ABC company and they will generate your very own hologram avatar.

HoloMessages.com - Like text messages, only holographic!

HoloMessaging.com - Like text messaging only holographic!

HoloRide.com - This would take away the fear of the roller coaster car flying off the track.

HoloRooms.com  - Just remember to close the program down before leaving Barclay...

HoloTones.com - Like RingTones only holographic! If a holographic display popped up when my phone rang that would be pretty sweet.

Thanks for reading. Don't forget that at DoughDomains.com our portfolio is "all .com all the time"
